Borrowing Toys:

  • All toys remain the property of the Waiuku Toy Library
  • The borrowing period is for TWO (2) WEEKS, except during library closures.
  • Your membership entitles you to borrow up to FIVE (5) TOYS  at a time.
  • Please do not exchange toys with others; all borrowed toys are your responsibility.
  •  All toys are borrowed at the borrowers’ risk and the Waiuku Toy Library accepts no responsibility for injuries or accidents resulting from the use of the toys.

Returning Toys:

  • Please return the toys in a CLEAN and TIDY condition, the way that you would like to receive them.
  • Returns must be done during library hours, directly to the librarian.

Please do not leave toys at the door of the toy library if the door is locked. If the library is closed for an unforeseen reason, you will not be charged late fines. If you leave toys and they are subsequently lost or damaged, we reserve the right to charge you for their replacement.

Overdue Toys: PLEASE CONSIDER OTHERS AND RETURN YOUR TOYS ON TIME

  • An overdue toy will result in a fine to the value of the weekly toy hire value for all weeks the toy falls overdue. This fee must be paid before further toys can be borrowed. Fines do not apply if the toy library is closed for public holidays or unforeseen reasons.
  • Persistent lateness in returning toys may result in cancellation of membership.
  • You may renew toys at the toy library if they are not already reserved.
  • To renew, or if you have problems returning toys on time, please email us or contact us through our Facebook page to let us know.

Cleaning Guidelines:
It is essential that toys be returned in an acceptable state of cleanliness, we have to be considerate to other members who borrow toys after us. Some cleaning ideas are below:

  • Cleaning formula that removes grease e.g. bicarbonate of soda and vinegar (non toxic to children and environmentally friendly). Or hot soapy water. Rinse well and dry.
  • Fresh chux cloth or soft cloth.
  • Old toothbrush, nail brush, or cotton wool for those hard to reach parts.

Damaged & Broken Toys/ Parts/ Containers:
Toys can break even in normal play; please don’t be embarrassed if this happens to you. Please return all parts and let the librarian know about any damaged/broken parts. Depending on the age of the toy we may charge an initial replacement fee of $5, if the broken piece makes the toy unusable you may be asked to contribute to the replacement cost of the toy or for a donation of a suitable toy to replace it, as judged by the Committee. In the case of missing parts or containers you may be charged a replacement fee or asked for a donation as judged by the Committee.

Cancellation of membership:
We do not issue refunds if you decide to terminate your membership.

This is YOUR Toy Library
We always need more volunteers to help us out, so if you can spare some time we’d welcome your help. Chat to the librarian about volunteer or committee membership. Your ideas and feedback make it work too, so please tell us if you have suggestions for new toys, or any concerns, queries, or feedback!

WE HOPE YOU ENJOY USING THE WAIUKU TOY LIBRARY! ☺
